I got into fandom in 2006 and it's been a big part of my life ever since. I primarily read and write fic, but I'm also really interested in the cultural/academic aspects of fandom as well.
I like to sink large amounts of time into reading (nearly) every fic written for a particular ship/trope, so I mainly get into fandoms that already have a lot of fic to read. For example, for two years of college, literally all of my non-homework reading was me working through the entire Kirk/Spock archive--and I do mean the entire archive. (I didn't read every fic to completion, but I gave everything a shot.)
some anime/manga fandoms and favorites: Banana Fish | Big Windup!/oofuri | CLAMP (especially TRC & xxxHolic) | Fullmetal Alchemist | Fumi Yoshinaga manga | Hikaru no Go | Nabari no Ou (& all other Yuhki Kamatani manga) | Natsume's Book of Friends | Ouran High School Host Club | Princess Tutu
some Western/etc fandoms and favorites: All for the Game | Captive Prince | Check, Please! | Harry Potter | MCU (but mostly stucky) | Merlin (BBC) | Star Trek (both TOS and reboot movie K/S) | Supernatural (not up to date, just read a lot of destiel) | Teen Wolf (only saw the first two seasons and just read a lot of sterek) | The Raven Cycle
Aside from fandom, I spend a lot of time working on my original writing. My main project right now is Ghost Novel, but I also work on Werewolf Novel on the side in spurts. I'm always looking for other writer friends, especially queer ones, so feel free to hit me up.I'm an aromantic asexual as well as transmasculine nonbinary person. A large chunk of the last several years was occupied with transitioning medically and legally. Now I'm mostly just enjoying life.

Date: 2018-12-08 03:21 am (UTC)The Kirk/Spock Archive is one of my absolute favorite places on the internet and everyday I am thankful that it has survived even as fic drifts more and more into one central location. (Not that I don't love AO3. I love it! There's just such a unique experience to exploring an entire archive dedicated to one thing though.)
One of my favorite things about K/S fic is finding stories that are older than I am! It's also interesting to see how the style of writing for fanfic has changed slightly over the decades, as well as seeing which tropes fall in and out of favor.
Anyway, my favorite classic K/S fic is Portraits by Charlotte Frost and I absolutely recommend it if you haven't read it. Do you have any you recommend?

Old fics are so funky; completely different attitudes towards certain tropes/ideas that we take for granted now. Even fics from just 10 years ago have a completely different feel to them!
